This muffler has an offset 5" inlet & an offset 6" outlet. It is an order item from Newell. It is manufactured by Riker Products. Newell's part number is 20072. Riker part #8WK LD. Price from Newell is $869.56+ S&H. This is a direct replacement for a 1999 with a Detroit. I suspect it will fit any DD Newell, but you will need to verify. I have attached a picture of my muffler so you can evaluate if yours is the same.
Steve, the muffler looks the same. The tail pipe is not a 99 Newell at least not like mine. But here we are talking muffler and it looks correct. Can one buy directly from Riker and are they any cheaper?
That is the tail pipe that was on my coach when I purchased it. If that is not the original stainless tip, what did the original look like?
[attachment=1951][attachment=1952]Steve, my tail pipe has a bend in it and looked longer. It is 26" long. Your coach is later and is maybe different and maybe I'm not seeing the bend and length.
On mine there is no bend. My tip is only about 12" long from where it slips on the muffler. Sounds like this falls under the "no two Newells are the same".
[attachment=1953]Steve, My muffler is right at 40" long including the part that the tips fits in. Your exhaust must come out more to the center of the coach than mine?? Richard your coach is about 7 coaches later than mine. Is it like Steve's or mine? Steve do you have a photo of the rear of your coach?
When I ordered my tip, I e-mailed Newell a photo of my tip to be sure they sent the correct one. Glad I did, being there are more than one for the 99.
I just looked at Chester's and his tip is more to the center.
Now I understand why Chester and several others complaining about exhaust smoke on their cars. I've not had this problem. Also my tip is chrome and not stainless.
It may be that mine comes from the engine in a different spot than yours due to the rear bath? Just guessing. My muffler is 36" long plus the slip joint for the tip. My tip is like afrench has pictured.
Just got back from MOT. The later tips are about 3"to 4" closer toward the center than mine. My muffler is 40" but I included the slip joint, so is the same muffler.
Chappell,
Here are the pictures you requested.
