[attachment=2396]I have a big time leak on my curb side dump valve solenoid. I found this leak several months ago and put an in line cut off because I didn't use it that much. But in Oct. I am going to a park where it would be convenient to have. It is leaking at the bottom brass air release valve. I did a search and did not find that anyone had replaced this solenoid. Are there any place to buy this other than Dupree or Newell. I talked to Chuck this morning at Newell and it is over $100.00.
Got a MFG name and. Part # for it? Have you considered taking it apart, look for seals or corrosion, re-seat the spools?

i believe it is the same one that controls the air slide for my bay fridge/freezer. i think that is the grainger part number below. of course the solenoid coils come off your old one and go on the new one.

i replaced the one on my freezer because it was leaking out the exhaust port. that was not the issue.

i will tell you my experience and you can see if it matches at all.

i was leaking air out the exhaust port. and the slide operated funky. sometimes it would leak out one port, sometimes the other port. btw, those little stubs on the ports with the holes in them are exhaust mufflers.

so...smart me thought....it has to be the valve. so i spent 100 bucks and replaced it. NO difference. i was shotgunning now. so i replaced the mufflers. no difference.

it ended up that the o ring seals in the cylinder (ram for the slide) had lost their seal and air was leaking by them causing a weak slide AND air leaking by out the exhaust port. since it leaked out both ways depending on if the slide was in or out, it should have been obvious that was it.

i bought a ram seal kit for 15 bucks from smi, took the ram apart and rebuilt it and walla, the leaking stopped.

you can also buy a rebuild kit for the cylinder that controls the dump. they are not very expensive. from dupree.

i would try that before you start replacing the valve.

but....that is just my experience. yours could be different.

Thanks to both of you. I have the valve gate seals for all three valves, but haven't replaced them yet. I will order the air cylinder renewal kit and see if it it will stop the leak before ordering a solenoid.
my guess it will fix it. it isnt very hard. you do have to have the right o ring pliers.

Yes, I have the pliers. I just order 2 sets of the kits since shipping is the same and either rebuild one of the others or have a spare. Will see if that fixes it. If not I will order a solenoid. Will post what happens.
yup those are the same valves jimmy. i didnt do a search like you did when i posted it. i buy from grainger and have a corp discount. so i use them when they are cheaper. i have also bought things from zoro

OK here is where I am now on this project. Got all the parts to rebuild the air cylinder like Tom said. But I can't get the sewer cap off under the coach. I worked almost an hour this morning and it want budge. I have a large pair of channel lock plies and still can't get it off. So what I am thinking is leave well enough alone. There is a very few times if ever one needs the right dump and this is the first MH I've owned that has one. It would come in handy in one place I go where I pull in instead of backing in so I can face the water. In the past I've just pushed the sewer hose across under the coach. So is it worth cutting off this sewer cap, which will cost probably $40.00 for a replacement, plus parts to rebuild the cylinder and then if doesn't stop the exhaust port leak I will need a new solenoid valve. Another $100.00. So we could be talking about maybe $160.--$170.00 total to have a dump on the right. Is it really worth it?
i have never used mine. i know people do, but i have not. not sure i would spend the money....but some folks just like to have everything working.

my front dash radiator core is leaking. i was going to fix it then heard you have to take the dash out to do it. then i asked myself, why? i hardly ever go where it is cold. if i do, the aquahot has little radiators at the drivers and passenger ankles and also has two hoses that go up to the defrost. so, why do i need it.

so, i am going to pinch the heater hoses off back at the rear manifold, cut them, put ball valves in and turn them off.

i was going to just turn the valves off that newell has there but they leak when i turn them off. and it is the one that i have to take all the others off to fix.

so....i am changing how i do things. rather than be fanatical about everything working whether i use or need it, to fix what i need and dont worry about it if i dont.
