Just started full timeing. Purchased #372 about two years ago. Have done maintance over the two years and now the acreage and many belongings have been sold. My question to all of you out there is how much fuel does the Gen consume hourly. Approx?
I presume you have a 20kw generator so I will leave it to those with the same size gensets to comment on fuel consumption. My 12.5kw generator uses about .66 gal/hr with a moderate load.
PowerTech rates most of them at 1g/hr at full load. While they rarely run at full load- Michael's spec of 0.66 is a good close number- I just use the gallon. It's easy!
i have tried to estimate mine and i think it is in the .5 to .6 range. that would be with just the air cons on which would be about half load

It appears my 12v golf cart batteries are so effective, I only use my generator when I want A/C. Thus it is under a considerable load when running, so I estimate .8 gph. I wonder if there is an inexpensive flow meter that would give an accurate reading.
The advantage I have with my dual fuel tanks is that by isolating the tanks, I can easily tell what my generator fuel consumption is.
20k under full load 1/2 gallon an hour
Larry are you guessing or is it a fact? Important to know, i think.
With the price of diesel, if you have to run the gen. for 8 or 10 hours in a 24 hour period if would be about as cheap or cheaper to stay at a park.

Chester, my owners manual states: For my 20KW gen. 25%--.09 GPH
50%--1.2 GPH
75%--1.5 GPH
100%--1.9 GPH
Chappell, that is important information, and it uses much more fuel than I had assumed. My estimate with all A/Cs on of .8 GPH is way too low. Is your 25% number .09 or .9? I am not a math guy, so I wonder what the percentage of power being used is when both legs are using 20 amps each. That is what I am using at this moment with the outside temperature at 95.
