For those who have series 92 engines and use Power Cool Coolant, what is your source besides Detroit Diesel?
Why do I always have to sound like the village idiot? Here goes again: Clarke is this a certain brand you use? I honestly have no idea what coolant is used in my 8V92. Please educate me if you would.
Power Cool is a Detroit Diesel brand name. If you look in the DD website for fluid specifications you will find a document that tells you what specifications are needed to be met by other brands. Power Cool is unique in color (purple) but meets a common specification (RCP-329 if memory serves me right, which is a big IF) for diesel engines. But you need to check the DD booklet and the various coolants against each other. As I recall, there wasn't a big difference in price.
Todd,
If you wish to educate yourself this may be helpful.

Todd, it's just what Detroit Diesel recommends for use in these two stroke engines. It's their brand, and is purple as as others have suggested. No doubt there are other brands that meet the specs. I just prefer to use their brand. Just as I prefer to use 40 weight oil. Has worked for me so far.
How many gallons does an engine take approximately? Or said another way has anyone recently flushed theirs and refilled and recall the cost?? This sounds like something I should do next spring.
my 77 coach with a 6V92 took about 24 gallons of mixed fluid, my 93 coach with an 8V92 took about 26 gallons.

I bought concentrate and mixed with distilled water I bought at the local grocer. The 77 coach was several years ago and cost less than $300. The 93 coach was within the past year and cost $380 or thereabouts including the 2 flush chemicals. I posted a thread on that change to a long life coolant on this site.
