Full Version: Micro RV Park or RV Condo

Not sure if this is a good place for this question but here goes: 
I have been toying with the idea of constructing a metal building large enough for TWO  RVs (up to 50 foot coaches with slides) in popular areas to rent out.  The idea is that the facility would have two 'apartments/condos' where the RVs would be stored side by side (with maybe a chain link fence or wall between them.  In front of them would be space for a car on each side.  Behind the coaches would be enough room to have a 'Florida' room where you could live if you wanted to or for storage while living here.  These would be situated in decent parts of town so that they are nearby everything and have a patio to enjoy the outdoors if wanted.  
I don't know how much they would rent for but what do you think?  is this something you would rent rather than stay in an RV park? 
I am thinking the first one will be either in Huntsville, AL or Conroe, TX (or maybe outside Denver, CO)...

The first thing that comes to my mind is a basic rule of the hotel/B&B industry is to either BE a destination or be NEAR a destination.
Those in the real estate rental business say a rule of thumb is that you should get 1%/month of the property's value for it to survive economically.
If a facility like that was in an area I wanted to visit I would certainly be interested in renting.
Good idea!  I would be concerned with zoning.  Are you a residence?  Are you a storage facility?  The local ordinances will be a challenge.  The RV condos that I am familiar with specifically do stuff to discourage living in the facility.

I was thinking of more of a metal building with a small living/storage space.  We like living in our coach... A metal building is much cheaper to build and then would build out living space inside - I thought about having space over the coach but that limits the building to only people who can climb stairs... I love the idea of having the whole front of the building open up like the attached pictures - not sure how much a door like that would cost though...

Thanks Bill. I love both the concept and the execution.
For me it would depend on why I wanted the locale in the first place. If I were temporarily staying to see local sights then this would be nice. For longer stays I appreciate the comradery of having lots of close company around, this would seem on initial blush not to fit that choice real well. My Newell was built to live outdoors so I see no reason to protect it. However, if it were allowed next door to my grandkids I would be on it like stink on a skunk.

It seems to me it's location dependent.
I second what John says. My first preference is a nice Rv resort or park. I'd mostly be interested in something like this only when either there's not a nice Rv park around or not a good place to dry camp.
