One of my electric bay door latches has failed and I'm using the key to lock it while in storage.  This is marginally inconvenient, but I really liked hitting that switch before I locked the door.  On these latches, is the failure typically the solenoid or in the wiring?  Has anyone else torn one of these down?  I can go at it myself, but if the wheel has already been invented, I'm happy to piggyback.  Here's a picture of the solenoid on my 98.  Well there would have been had I been able to figure out how to do it.

Go into Full Edit mode, make sure the photo is somewhere on the internet or upload it to this site's gallery, copy the url of the photo, click on the photo + icon and enter the URL of the photo.

Photo on my computer, not on internet. Gallery won't let me upload. Otherwise it all works.
When uploading files to the Gallery, I have had better luck with the "Simple-One File At A Time" than the "Multiple Files-Flash Driven" setting on the right side just below the header. As I recall you will need to create an Album (click on "My Profile" in the Gallery header then click on "+ Album" at the bottom of the page before you attempt to upload a file.
First. Put a voltmeter on the leads to the solenoid and have someone trip the switch. That will answer the which problem is it question.

If it's the solenoid, those are standard Ford door lock actuators. http://www.carparts.com/details/Ford/F-2...lsrc=aw.ds

To post a picture in a post, and not on the gallery. Use the attach photo feature at the bottom of the post. Then after you have attached the file, put the cursor where you want the picture, and click on the embed photo box. You have to be in full edit mode, not quick edit mode to do this.

Thanks, that's a big help on the solenoid.  Still having trouble posting the photo. When I click on the attach photo it asks for a url.  I'm not good enough to figure out what the url would be for a picture on my computer.
Ok.

In the first post you made. Go into the Edit mode. Choose Full Edit, not quick edit.

Go to the bottom in the Choose Attachment. Click on the Choose File button. That should get you into your computer. Once you choose the file, you have to click on the Add Attachment button. It will take a second for it to upload. Once it uploads you have the option of imbedding the photo in the text of the post or just leaving it at the bottom.

Going through the Gallery feature to put a picture in a forum post is an indirect approach in my opinion.

That worked, thanks.
Thanks to everyone for the help.  I can be a little thick when it comes to computer work.  Your patience has been appreciated.
richard is spot on. they are so cheap in the aftermarket, it is not worth fooling with them. newell just used 2 sided trim tape to attach them
