We have a 1983 Newell with an original magic chef slide in gas top, over a micro/oven unit. Suburban, Wedgewood and Atwood are models I have found so far. Could not find many reviews on internet. One said the stove was made poorly and had cheap grates, think that wa an Atwood. Suburban seems to be cheaper option, but don't want to compromise quality.

If you have replaced your cook top, would appreciate any information such as:
1. what brand/model did your purchase and are you happy with it?
2. suggestions regarding installation. was replacement bigger or smaller and how did you retrofit.
3. suggestions regarding where to purchase.
THANKS!
Andy,

A lot of us have electric cooktops so that doesn't help you. Just a thought, but you might look at supply places that cater to yachts and high end boats for gas cooktops.

If you want better quality and have the room, or can modify the top to fit one of these......this is the new generation propane cooktops for RVs...24" wide

And can be mated with this oven if you have the cabinet space and want/need an actual good oven:

Otherwise, if you want the slide-in style, this one is very hard to find anymore- Smev- surprised it is on ebay now....

I replaced my original cooktop with a Magic Chef stove / oven a couple years ago.
No complaints.
The original was still working fine but my wife wanted an oven.
There are a few pictures in my gallery.
