1988 Newell #179 User Manual

I have written a New Hints/Tips/Troubleshooting manual for the prospective  new owner of my 1988 Newell #149,
on  9/21/2017.

May contain errors and I welcome updates and corrections.  This is written from the view of
a newell user that has learned stuff (right or wrong) the hard way.

Hopefully this will be helpful to others.
Wow! This should be required reading for all Newell owners. Although some of the systems are newer technology the principles you cover are great reading for all owners. Nicely done, although I hope I am not asked to meet this new standard
nicely done ron

Wow, just WOW.

That is a very nice write up.
I especially appreciate the explanation of the leveling system.

In the spirit of sharing -- some of what I have found on my '87,
- When the generator is running, it's little alternator charges the house batteries, but not the chassis batteries.
- The generator is started by the house batteries.
- When the main engine is running, it charges both chassis & house batteries.
- I have found it best to only use the merge when the batteries you need are weak.
- I switch the batteries off when parked & check the voltage monthly & charge only if needed.
what i discovered on my 02 is that shutting the batteries off does not turn off the battery power to the inverter

You have to take the negative in middle of house batteries and it will
