I never noticed how lousy my headlights are until a couple weeks ago on a late evening arrival in the UP, usually I drive few hours at most on busier interstates with other cars and lights around.

I have decided I would like to see what’s in front of me and I’m looking to upgrade the 4x6 sealed beams to LED.
These DOT approved units from Grote are looking promising.

They are about $150 each, not inexpensive but 1/2 or less of some of the others I’ve looked at.
Does anyone have any experience with these or another good option?

Thanks

Scott
check out jw speaker.....I put a set of these in my 1989 Vogue a couple years ago to replace my oem halogen, and WOW, it was the best money ever spent!

We replaced the very dim halogen headlights on our 86 with LED units . The difference is dramatic. Low beams are only the top row of leds plus a single on the second row , forming a " T ". On high beam all flags are flying. Have heard there is a way to wire low beam to get all rows on the two outside units , but they do a good job as is . I don't have a link , but we sourced the lights from Amazon,  under $100  for set of four . Paper work says DOT .
I saw the ones from JW Speaker; they have good reviews and I like the idea of buying a product made here in WI but that comes at a $100 premium for each light, I’m not sure it’s worth it.

I had a hard time biting that bullet as well. But once I did, I never had any buyer’s remorse. I will buy another set for a different rig I have.
My frugal nature won out, I installed the Grote lights and saved the $400 difference vs the JW Speaker LEDs.  They are dramatically better than the old halogen lamps.
I haven’t been on the road yet, it will probably be fall before I have another nighttime arrival.

Where did you get the Grote headlamps from?
I ordered them on Amazon.

I have the 1996 428 coach and would like to install LED bulbs in the headlights. I would also like to do the same for the yard lights. Does anyone have information on where I could get LED replacement bulbs or lights? I'm not sure, but I think the coach has GMC lights.

Thanks,
Jerry
