i thought i would start a new thread on my replacing the front salon slide seal.  i followed paul's thread with great interest on doing his.  that said, my slide mechanisms are very different.  so it will be a different process.

there is no access to the two slide rams in the front driver side front wheel well or in the bay behind the entrance door.  shucks...that would have been alot easier.

on mine, you have to unthread the two rams after dropping the slide floor.  i will take pictures as i do it.  also, paul in his coach had a limit switch you had to remove that senses when the slide is fully extended.

mine doesnt have the same kind.  mine has a sensor that is tripped by a magnet, just like the magnets on top of the slide that sense when the slide is in and puts the slide pins down.

my cart is done except for glueing the carpet on the two platforms.

i am just finishing up putting the new inverter in and once that is done i will start on the slide.

the magnetic sensor was in the bay directly under the center of the slide.

once i get the inverter in, i will pull the slide in just a little so i can take the valence off and all the pieces that stop the slide from extending completely out.

i had a long chat with mark at newell today about the process for doing the slide seal. he said he can do one complete from start to end in about 6-7 hours....i will see how many times that it is for me....ha

it does take two guys to take the slide out. my neighbor is helping with that.

and 6 to put it back in.....2 on the inside and 4 on the outside pushing the slide back into place. so i will have to plan that part.

i will take lots of pictures. should be fun

Just curious, do you have something to support the slide when it comes out?

Ahhhh, now I remember. Nice cart! Looking forward to pic's!

Thanks!
started the tear down to get the slide out.

took the valence off, took the steel plate with hook off, took the leather cover and panel off behind the drivers seat on the slide.  took the steel plates off behind the cover.  i also took the couch armrest off to make sure there were no screws holding the big panel on.

took the plastic blocks off that have two bolts in them under the floor where the slide ram bolts are.  they have spacers behind them so you have to make sure you keep them oriented right and put the spacers back in.

i might add that i measured the slide before i took everything apart.  with the slide all the way out i measure at the bottom of the slide both sides and marked with a piece of tape on the coach the measurement.  in my case both were 29 1/8.  that way when we screw the slide rams back in when we are done we can move them to exactly the same position and hopefully the slide will align right where it was before.

the two blocks come off with a 7/16 wrench

the locknut on the slide ram is a 15/16   and the ram itself is a 5/8

i think i will trim the fur weatherstrip at the back slide of the slide so it doesnt catch the new slide seal on the way in.  it sticks up with a sharp corner too much for my liking

i dont think i have to remove any trim or panels on the rear of the slide to get it out.

next is to put the coach up on jackstands to keep it firm

a few pictures attached

Making some progress!!
Tom,

Take a look at the opening and the slide walls to see if there are any close places. I had a pretty tight corner, that was made tighter when I shimmed the slide pads to level the slide. The slide would hit the outside wall if the coach were twisted. I had to relieve an 1/8 inch in one corner to prevent potential contact.

Not saying this is a widespread problem, but it doesn't cost anything to look for rubbed areas while you have the slide out. Relieving that area with the slide seal just on the other side of the wall was a nerve wracking day.
Tom,

How tight was the bar on the top of the slide? Mine was loose and only held on by some stainless screws. Newell put in some Rivnuts. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivet_nut But they did not put in enough. Richard helped me put in about 10 more and now the bar is part of the structure. (He also helped rework the bar to make it beefier).

There is a easy way to get them to grab using two nuts and a correct size bolt.

As long as you have the slide room apart, it will be easy fix if needed.

Bill
it was tight and held on with what looked like drywall screws or metal screws. i dont think they were stainless.

it doesnt seem to have been a problem.
