This video describes describes a simple 5 dollar relay mated to a WiFi chip by Sonoff:  How to turn everything on and off.

This young engineer has some good links under his videos. These brand switches and clones have been out a year, it looks like. ESP 8266 integrated WiFi chip devices like this seem pretty promising for turning things on and off.

Also watched this video on Shelly devices. I am not an electrician, just looking at dyi automation. Oh, I also read that Sonoff basic is only ten amps. And not sure what is UL listed.

Again just a novice, not an electrician and this is hobby stuff. So this is not advice!

This guy appears to have interesting reviews of automation relays.

Thank you Eric for this!!! I have been trying to find a good way to connect up my living room chandelier so Alexa would work. This is the answer! Adrian

Like I tried to say above I am not advising, since I am neither an engineer or electrician.  I did note that certain relays (the Basic model) may only be 10 amps.  I thought another switch might be 16.  So I will give up not advising Smile
