The 2014 Newell Coach, at least those starting with #1466, will carry a new model designation of 2020p. This is the first model designation change since the 2006 models beginning around #779 when Newell began using the model designation of P2000i. Prior to that, the models were designated 2000i beginning during the 2005 model year. The i enhancements included the roof buttresses to hide the air conditioners and allow the flush placement of the Girard awnings. The P series added the new Porsche designed front end.

Per Newell, new features in the 2020p include:
Quote:• Bold new styling by Porsche Design includes refined
chrome headlight and chrome generator door trim. The
dramatic, cathedral-style taillights were inspired by the
iconic 1955-1956 Packard.
• Revised instrument panel and new glass dash improve the
visibility of all instrument readouts. Each driver can adjust
the display to suit his or her height, steering-wheel setting
and seat position.
• Bamboo and reconstituted leather flooring materials
can now be used with carpet, granite, or marble to create
dramatic accents. Indio Show Coach 1475 features a dark
bamboo floor with light granite inlays. An upcoming coach
will combine bamboo flooring with leather inlays.
• Apple iPads with special apps let you control most
systems from anywhere in the coach. This includes interior
and exterior lights, shades, and window awnings. It can also
include audio/video remote controls.

Going back in time from the introduction of the 2020p which was introduced by the 2013 model year with #1466 (I am still trying to obtain photos of 1464 and 1465, both 2013's to confirm their body style):

The P2000i body style was introduced during the 2006 model year with coach 776 (or possibly 775) and ran through most of, if not all, the 2013 model year. The P2000i saw the introduction of the one piece windshield and the Porsche designed front end.

The 2000i body style was introduced during the 2005 model year, with coach 722. The "i" enhancements was a visually striking change from the 2000 body style. Buttresses were added to both sides of the roof giving the coach a much taller appearance and providing a means to attach the Girard Power Patio Awnings flush with the side of the coach. The rear end design changed dramatically eliminating the rectangular lights used since the introduction of the Series 2000 and from the side, the engine vents near the rear of the coach were mounted vertically instead of horizontally, again adding to the impressive of additional height.

The 2000 body style received a face lift with the last 1999 model year coach #538. The major change replaced the rectangular headlights which Newell had incorporated since 1990 with small round projector beam headlights mounted in a small recessed area that curves upwards on the edges making it look like the Newell is smiling. This was not only a visually appealing change, the new headlights allowed better control of the light beam and driver welcomed the better illumination of the road.

A dramatic body style change occurred with the 1990 year model when the 'Classic' body style was replaced with the '2000' body style. This was a major styling change which replaced the three piece windshield with a two piece windshield, rounded the lines of the coach and eliminated the slight eyebrow ledge over the windshield. The chrome bezels around the four rectangular headlights and two inboard rectangular turn signals were eliminated and the headlights were moved to a recessed area in the front of the coach using the headlight/outboard turn signal assembly from the Ford F-150 pickup. The inner headlights used the same headlight/turn signal assembly with the turn signal unit removed. The separate protruding front and rear metal bumpers were eliminated and the radius of the transition from the side to the roof was significantly changed giving the appearance of a straighter, taller coach and eliminating the need for the patio awning to have curved support arms. Although these change was met with a resounding approval from buyers, many still admire the lines of the 'Classic' body style and one owner even requested a Newell constructed with the 'Classic' body style in 1993 (Coach #317). This is only 'Classic' Newell produced after the 1989 model year ended with coach #213).

From 1967 through 1979, Newell used a pair of round headlights with round turn signals mounted above the headlights and the sides sloped in near the top requiring the use of curved awning support arms as were used on the Airstream travel trailers.

Now you know, as Paul Harvey would say, 'the rest of the story.'
I saw one of the new show coaches today. Right when it seems the bar can't get raised higher they keep moving it up! My 2003 seemed so nice until today! Now it is stuck somewhere between a classic and a new one.
