All,
Took coach to Newell in late October 2018 because of air leaks. A technician spent 8 hours chasing air leaks. At the end of the day the technician showed me the fittings that were replaced and the areas of the coach that they came from. Also, on this trip one of the auxiliary air compressors was replaced. It had over two thousand hours.
Last Tuesday I went out to the coach and paid attention to the frequency that the air compressor came on and how long it ran. I called and talked with the service department and they made some recommendations.
Last Tuesday the air compressor had 200 hours and today it had 213.5 hours.  A bottle of soapy water sprayed on the air compressor bay fittings revealed no leaks.  I took a stop watch with me and timed how often the compressor was on and how long it ran. The compressor would come on every five minutes and thirty seconds and run for thirty seconds. I got the same reading several times. I then switched to the other auxiliary air compressor and got the same readings.
Any suggestions?  Input welcome.  Got an appointment to take the coach to Newell in September.

i did an analysis of my compressor useage you can look at on this forum.

i would take a strong look at your pressure switch for the compressor. there is no way that the compressor can build up 20psi in 30 seconds unless you have a much bigger compressor than i do mine runs for about 3-4 minutes. these well pump switches have a 20psi delta. they either come on at 80 and goes to 100 or comes on at 70 and goes to 90.

it sounds like that well pump pressure switch is acting up to me.

to drain 20psi in 5 minutes is a leak you should hear.

what is your pressure gauge saying?

tom
Tom,
The compressor shuts off at 120 lbs. and then comes back on at 100lbs. When the compressor starts the pressure will drop from 100lbs. to 80lbs. I saw this happen several times today. I am not hearing any leaks. When the compressor shuts off at 120 lbs. I will walk around the coach to determine if I can hear anything. Thank you for your comments. Gives me something to suggest.

i am surprised it can build up 20 psi from 100 to 120 in 30 seconds. not unless you have a really big compressor.

there are just so many places to check for leaks....just break it down into chunks.

is the coach in autolevel mode

tom
Tom,
Yes, the coach is in the auto level mode. Thank you for your assistance.

reese, it makes me wonder if you have a leak in your leveling system somewhere then. if it goes down that quickly. only thing is that with the hwh systems it only wakes up every 30 minutes to check level. but yours has the valid air system so i dont know how it works.

just thinking of things....

tom
My runs for about 45 seconds, filling from ~90 to ~125psi.

5 minutes is pretty frequent, so there is a big leak somewhere. There is no magic place to look.

Check:
* air driver chair (valves inside, too)
* control solenoids for air doors
* a zillion push-fit connections underneath the coach
* all the fittings around the slide control manifolds (remove the cover and spray everything)
* shop air distribution manifold in rear pax bay in front of engine

We got ours down to 90 minutes earlier this year, but it is already back to 40 minutes between cycles since then. There are so many connections, and most of them fail eventually.
Tom and Nebster,
Thank you for your advice and suggestions.

Just for grins. Take it out of auto level.

If the pump continues it’s high frequency cycling, then the leak is not in the air bags or systems feeding the air bags. The coach should not drop appreciably at any corner if this is the case.

If the pump frequency significantly decreases, then the air leak is in the air bags/ feeder systems. Also the offending corner should drop.

Hopefully this will narrow your search
Richard,
Thank you for the suggestion. Put it in manual or travel mode?
