Helping a fellow Newell owner & Guru with an air leak.  The 110V air compressor spitter valve was leaking air through when the air compressor was running--valve is supposed to close when the air compressor runs and then open when the compressor stops.

Valve is manufactured by HWH
Part #RAP 6354 (AP19508)

The valve is attached to the bottom of the small air dryer with two wires coming from it.

It appears to be a valve designed to drain the water from the air dryer. You could probably eliminate it with a new air dryer that doesn't leak that has a manual drain.

You should keep that valve and replace it. If you go to a manual drain there is no release of air pressure and the pump may not start because it will have to much head pressure.
ron is right. you have to have that valve as it released the head pressure when it shuts off so the compressor can start up again.

nothing magical about it. just a 12v valve. found some for ten bucks that were generic. or you can call hwh and spend 150.

there is water in the bowl.....as you know because it wasnt opening.

I think you need a solenoid that is normally open & closes when energized so the air system can build pressure when the compressor comes on. Then when the compressor shuts off the solenoid is deenergized, opens and releases the water from the air dryer bowl & the head pressure on the compressor.
As usual, that Bare fella is right again.
gotta disagree. the only thing that valve does is release head pressure and release whatever water is in the bowl. it builds pressure through a different line.

it has to be normally closed or you would have it on all the time.

my two cents worth.

Well, on my Poortravel, that valve is open till the Aux compressor turns on. A normally closed valve isolates the compressor from the system till it needs to run.

So, seems one needs to see how a Newell is arranged. Plus, how does an open spitter valve allow the system to build pressure.
i may stand corrected. here is the description of that valve

i will have to go out and actually see how mine is hooked up.
