Led bulbs for patio lights - folivier - 01-27-2014

Has anybody found an led replacement for the patio lights?
I think it is an 1142 bulb that has 2 terminals.

Forest, Don Bradner and I removed the bulbs from the patio lights on my coach (he had already done it on his), cut a piece of cardboard to insulate the inside of the metal fixture and to serve as a mounting surface for a strip of 5050 LED lights. We wound the strip back and forth over the cardboard, removed the existing bulb socket and wired the strip LED's into the positive and negative wires. Cheap, easy and it looks good.

Ordered 4 of these, from the dimensions it looks like they will fit.

Forest, Ron found these a couple of years ago. I changed mine also it is a flat bulb that fits perfect. I'm sure Ron still has the number,,,,much brighter and white!

We have the cooler leds inside and like them but wanted the warm lights for outside. One problem with the leds is they are very directional unlike incandescent. I'm just hoping they're bright enough.

forest, those bulbs you bought with 30 5050 led's will put out 480 lumens. each 5050 led will put out 16 lumens.

they are not quite as directional as the regular bulb, but in that crappy enclosure, with a reflector at the back and diffusser on the front, i am not sure it matters.

an incandescant bulb puts out i think about 4-500 lumens. so light wise it is about the same i believe. i know i couldnt get it to fit when i tried an led. because of the way the socket is in the fixture. i suspect if you can get it to fit, the light should be close to the same, but will be interesting to see.

www.donsbulbs.com has lumens etc for all the light bulbs. along with spec and pictures and how the base is laid out

here is the post on what the fixtures are. http://newellgurus.com/Thread-part-number

Just installed them and they fit. Looks like they are at least as bright if not a bit more.

Now that it's dark they are brighter. But it could be that I cleaned the lens.

They make one that plugs in just like your bulb. Got it at fmca rally
