Replacement for Gaggenau cooktop? 'Resolved via workaround' - Sundance - 06-18-2014

Have the two burner induction under the cover OEM on the 1996.

Looking for Guru ideas on what replacement options/ ideas you'll might have.

Thanks

I think the Gaggenau is a halogen cooktop, definitely not induction since a regular aluminum pot works on it.
I would think any cooktop would work as long as it is the same size. Or if you want to do some cutting....
Is yours not working?

I would be looking at this company and their products. This IS an induction cooktop.

On some newer coaches they went to the KENYON ceramic or induction cook-top and flushed it with the counter, thus removing the pit that in some cases caused consternation with the cook... Probably doable on your coach...

OK, shows what I don't know...do you know the model Newell used in that year?
It has a crack in the top directly over the main burner...didn't trust using it...not finding replacement glass tops.
Their website states model # is on side of unit???so maybe I have to pull drawer or unit to get to tag ?
Not stuck on induction or other technology...just want to stay electric...plus fulltiming maybe not recessed and burners so close together....

Thoughts?

Cindy kinda likes that "pit". It keeps my cooking mess in one place. Mostly.

There are a bunch of mfgs. of cook tops.. First you need to decide what you can fit into your spot, get dimensions of your hole.. Or if your skills allow, pick out what you like and see if you can modify your counter-top to match.. This is another option that you may be able to work into your project.... http://www.elitedeals.com/kny-b41602.html

Since every Newell is different.. not sure when they started using flush cook tops... You could ask them....

Hi Jeff,
I ask Jean and she use both eyes when ever she needed to which wasn't a lot. We ate out most of the time. We never notice a crack and had probably not use it since we got the 04.

Work around currently is portable 110v cooktop, plus using crock pot, outside grill, convection, micro, electric skillet, etc...
With added counter space not sure we will change anytime soon...plus wife has great justification for eating out more often...WIN!

A good temporary work-around and a standby cooktop for boiling pasta is the 110v Fagor induction unit. I bought two to replace the propane stove on my Monaco. My partner built them into the space occupied by the propane stove. Works perfectly and looks great!
The Fagor is currently on sale at CW for about $90.
