Hmmm, in an emergency when the bladder won't inflate and it is either windy or raining or both what about using a strip of tape around the seam, with the slide in of course? Not sure if painters tape would last but duct tape should surely keep out the rain and wind.

RE: Slides - ccjohnson - 02-26-2016

I would vote for painters tape as adhesive from a good duct tape can be REALLY hard to get off without damaging the finish.

We thought about using tape around our slide just at the top until we can get an awning on it to kill the leaking. What tape would be good to use? I know I used some tape on my Bird and it pulled the clear coat off when removed (not sure what it was)...

The blue painters tape should work ok. It is what glass shops use when installing windshields so it should be safe for clear coat & finishes.

I appreciated everybody's input to my slide problem. I thought about the pins and was trying to locate them, but couldn't see them with the slides in the out position. I especially appreciate Tom's post that the pins aren't necessary that the hydraulics will keep it in. We are praying for more dry weather, but I'm sure about the time we head home, it will start raining. We have had no rain in south Texas since we got on January 12th. We plan to leave on March 28 and be at Newell the afternoon of the 29th. When we leave we plan to put wide blue painter's tape all around the slide, unless some of you thinks that would be the wrong thing to do. I don't think it will hurt the paint.

I have been using clear contact paper to put on my car when I do track days. This sticks good and will stay on at a high rate of speed. It peel off real easy with no glue left on the paint. I have never left it on for a long period of time but for something temporary it should work.

Good thought Ron! Do you mean the stuff like you use to line shelving with? I used that on my Jeep when I had a slobbery 8v92 (that I loved) and it worked well - it was cheap at the dollar store but not sure how it would hold up to an oncoming wind on the side of the coach, might have to test it... Maybe I should get some before the next big rain. I thought about getting some for the Jeep to make it match the coach better :-)
