How many propane furnaces - Guy - 01-29-2017

How many heaters do I have? Actually a good problem to have since know  I have  5 120 volt and 1 propane. There are  120 volt heaters in the bath area( toilet side)  Bedroom, Salon ( Dinette area), and between the driver and passenger, (console) an 1 more in the water bay. I have yet to find the thermostat for the water bay. It's got to be in there somewhere !

The one propane I am aware of is under the jackknife sofa. Previous owner of the coach Todd , had the sofa recovered  and all new ducting put in at that time. My question is are there more propane furnaces on board? I only see external vents for one.

I have furnace envy with Clarke, as he has at least two propane furnaces .  Smile Actually 1 is fine with me, if I ever require two, it would be time to move further south.

On my 77 coach the water bay heater was on the driver side (do you even have a heater - it's bigger than a bread loaf so it will be easier to see than the thermostat). If you have the heater then the thermostat is somewhere - mine was on the passenger side mounted high on the rear wall.

All furnaces need to be externally vented so if you only have one vent you only have one furnace. I've had both setups, 3 furnaces with 3 thermostats, and one furnace with ducting. In terms of conserving propane the multiple furnace setup works best; heat what you want and ignore the rest. With a single furnace I always end up heating the whole coach, there is no way to zone the heat using the furnace.

Or move down south. I don't think I ever used the propane heater on Jon's coach while I owned it. Jon, just curious but is there a separate propane heater for the water bay or just ductwork from the house heater?

Forest: I haven't checked for duct work, I just assumed the electric heater was needed. I burned through 2 tanks of propane with the furnace, being further south sounds good in the winter Smile

I think there is only the one and I never fired it up. in the water bay there is one electric heater with a thermostat on the drivers side. Actually the heart is on the drivers side and the thermostat is on the back wall on the passenger side. I think.

Listen Guy when you retire just stay South and you won't need it.

Clarke and I (mostly Clarke) replaced the electric heaters in the bedroom and up front. So the one in the bathroom is original for sure. Not sure about the water bay.

We used electric heat a few weeks ago at Solvang CA on a friends ranch where we had 120 avail. All worked well. Nice little heaters. Takes the chill off in just a few minutes. To me . chill is f +50 , not   S.D. chill. I agree , just head south  Smile

If you look on the outside of the coach you can see the chrome vent or vents for the heaters count them that's how many you have or had a time of build ....

Hi Guy! We have three Suburban gas heaters in our Newell.....one in the salon, one on bathroom (also heats water bay), and one in the bedroom. I wonder if the owner prior to Todd took some of them out. I do remember replacing some of Todd's electric heaters when we were in South Dakota.
