Single Waste Tank (Grey + Black) - valento - 10-23-2017

Our Newell has only one tank to empty and it is great not having to mess around emptying a black and a grey tanks.  Why are not more motor coach makers not using just one waste tank instead of having a separate grey and black?

With all the stringent pollution rules nowadays there are very few places you can dump grey on the ground so that argument is pretty null.  Our Newell does have a grey bypass but have never used it and do not plan to.

Just curious as to why manufacturers do not implement one waste tank.  Figured one of the many smart folk out there would have the answer for me.

Thanks,
Oscar

Good question. I also like the practicality of one waste tank, and fresh water tank the same size.

I do know that when other campers have found out about the combined tank they usually dislike the idea because it's different.

There seems to be a bit of envy too!

A 125 gal tank allows us to go over a week between dumping.

The thing I like is not needing to clean out the tank, Just dump & then close the valve. Rinse & put the stinky slinky away & I'm done.

we have that one tank in our coach. It has taken some getting use to dumping every 4 days. My previous coaches, I could go almost 2 weeks

We use grey by-pass especially when using W/D.

Our '82 has the traditional black and gray water tanks. I like it because we do a lot of boondocking/dry camping in remote desert areas.... we just run a hose from the gray water tank about 50' away, usually into a rat, or ground squirrel hole to drain it. Can go 14 days without dumping the black tank.
