Transfer switch diagrams? - pairodice - 11-14-2017

Anyone have a diagram for the shorepower/generator automatic transfer switch please?  I got a new board from Newell last week and since they burn all their diagrams did not have one.
I have the ‘old’ style box with a small (about 3” x 6”) circuit board and 2 cutler-hammer 60amp contactors.  I need to be sure the wiring is correct on the circuit board - with the help of a Newell electrician I hooked up the circuit board as it was before but it arced when we flipped the generator on.  The shorepower side seems to work fine.  I was able to use the toothpick trick to get the contactor to stay down and the generator charging.
Thanks! Adrian

Adrian, I have a switch from around that vintage and am attaching pictures.

Hope this helps.

I should add, it is manufactured by TODD Engineering.   The boards a rebuildable from Flight Systems in PA.  You can ship to them  or send to me and i'll ship to them ( I use them quite often).  If you need further help just let me know.

that is a great help Gordon! Thank you!

Reviving this thread since I never got the board replaced - should I bother rebuilding (or buying) the circuit board for the Todd mfg ATS or should I just buy a new model from Newell or some other supplier? The board is very difficult to get to and connect up. Newell indicated that the new ATS is a 3 wire connection so it’s easy to connect up... any suggestions? BTW, I did replace the contactor switch on the shore power said and it works fine. The circuit board controls the switching to the Gen side.

I see a thread ( http://newellgurus.com/showthread.php?tid=1714&page=2) that shows a Progressive Dynamics PD 53-100; that switch is a little less expensive at $460 on eBay (not that I trust eBay)...

Buy a new ATS and be done with it.

Up to you whether you buy one with built in surge and power protection. The argument for a combined unit is less total cost and less wiring. The argument against is that if the ATS and power protection are separate units then if you cook the power protection system you can bypass it and still have power. Dealers choice.

I have a agree Richard.  I was contemplating using a manual switch instead and get rid of the headache of boards burning out but I think I will go ahead and replace what I have with an ATS... I like the idea of having a separate power protection unit so will be going that route.  Was hoping that Camping World in AL would have one but they have to ship... will probably just order from Newell.

i made this schematic when i worked on mine. (sounds just like yours)

Thanks for the diagram Mark, I ordered an ATS from Surge Guard with no surge protection built in since I already have an external protector (Progressive?) that I use.
