My AH manifold has a brace that someone added on. It's on the free end of the manifold and extends to the floor of the tray. I am guessing it is for the same reason.
Good idea on the flex hose.

My AH had that brace too, and it was so loose it did not do any good. While refitting it, I ran a drill bit into my thumb nail (actually through my thumbnail). Lets just say an attempt was made.
I guess the point is that the brace was probably factory but was done in such a way that it can come loose.
When I got through with mine....it will never loosen on its own. Also, for those interested, my thumbnail is much, much better.

So far after 1000 miles no more leaks from the aquahot manifold. I too had the brace but I still think with all the vibration the hose is much better.. and bill I was worried about your thumb?
