Back up camera Replace on a 1989 - 1989newell - 03-07-2018

I was seeing if anyone had pictures of a back up camera upgrade on a mid 80s-mid 90s model. I am looking for suggestions and how you modified the bracket and monitor.
Thank You

Starting in 1990, Newell changed the rear cap to incorporate the camera behind a flat Plexiglas cover. Looks nice but you can't use a camera with infrared night vision because the lights produce so much glare on the Plexiglas. Tom removed the Plexiglas from his previous 1990 #262 as shown below.

The blue coach is #270 with the Plexiglas cover installed.

So, I guess I need an example from a pre 90. Thanks for the info!

@1989newell, I replaced my backup camera on my 1986 and it works awesome. I had to run the supplied cable from the camera to the back of the bus and it was plenty long. I took the old camera out of the housing and engineered the new one to fit the housing. I took the old screen out and replaced it with the new monitor, very little modifications needed. The camera has a microphone and the monitor has speakers. Also has infra-red night vision. $200 at Costco, link below.

On our coach I replaced the camera and old Sony B&W screen with 3 cameras (2 side vision and one rear).  I used the existing wiring, cut and soldered the wires from the new camera wires together with the old - this has been working fine.  The picture is great and having side view cameras also helps for security.  Some day I’m going to hook up the functionality to switch to the side camera when the blinker comes on but not in a rush for that one.  The biggest problem is that I didn’t like the position of the old screen in the bottom of the console so I moved the new screen to the bottom of the overhead cabinet (over the driver) and like it much better - the wire is a little too short so I connected it to the rear-view mirror inside and just let it hang there (it’s on my list)...
