Fuel hose keeps shutting off - Gregory - 03-26-2018

I'm enjoying my new ( 2018 ) Newel coach (# 1630 ) and I'm learning a lot.  With the springtime just around the corner, I am looking forward to really getting out on the road during the year.
I have a question that I haven't talked with the factory about yet but..........many times when I'm filling the tanks with fuel, the nozzle keeps shutting off prematurely. I try to re-arrange the nozzle and it works for a while but usually kicks off.  Also, I very seldom am able to use full flow.  It seems I usually have to hold the nozzle half way.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Gregory Miller

Gregory, do the new coaches have the filler opening directly into the tank as the prior coaches did? How large is the filler opening? The reason for the questions is that I have not been aware of slow filling being an issue in Newells but I have not had the opportunity to look at the p50's that started with coach #1600.

Gregory,

Are you filling the coach at the same pumps the big trucks use or are you at the RV pumps? I have always used the same pumps as big rigs.

Also, I once ran into a pump (at the casino near Big Cabin OK) that would not prime correctly. A trucker did some magic with the fuel handle and got it going...but I did not figure out what he did.

Glad to have you aboard the gurus!

Yes, it is the same as the big rigs use.  It doesn't happen all of the time but it is more often than not.

From any pics I've seen, it is the same, large filler cap right on the fuel tank in the bay.  As I mentioned to Bill,  it doesn't happen every time but it happens more often than not.

There have been occasions when I experienced the same situation of needing a slow flow, it has always been associated with the fuel foaming in the tank and creating an artificial high level that shuts off the nozzle.
