weight adjustment on Tag axle ? - DK on the road - 03-23-2019

Can you, adjust the weight on Tag axles independently of each other ?

I ask, because, I just had each wheel weighed on #784. Here are my results

Fr driver #8,800                           Fr pass #8,500    Wife was out of the rig and my Fat but some what skewed this

Drive axle Drivers side #12,600       Drive axle, pass side  #12,700

Tag axle drivers side # 7,750           Tag axle, pass side #7,200

I had about #1,100 ??? lbs of tounge weight on the hitch without my weight transferring hitch.

What i'm concerned about is the #550 of more weight on one tag wheel than the other tag wheel. The tag tires are Identical, brand, date code are the same.

What can I do ?

Inflate the tag tires for the heavier load.

I do not know of a mechanism for invidually controlling the inflation pressures of the tag axle air bags. Since the drive tires are evenly loaded, I would not worry too much about this.

Thanks Richard. I agree, since the drive wheels are close, it means I'm riding level and balanced. I'll adjust the air in the tag wheels.

I know I can release air in the tag axle as a set. I just didn't know if there was a regulator, or one is getting released and one wheel is not.

Does anybody know what happens when you switch the valve for the tag axle ?
Does it dump all the air in the bags ? I wouldn't think so, because It would exceed the axle weight limit of the drive axle, wouldn't it ? I wouldn't think Newell would have allowed it by design. By my weight I would have 40 K + on the drive. So I tend to believe that its a partial air dump, or regulated dump, and maybe only one of my wheels is getting full air pressure.

When I get off my Road Trip, I'll crib up the coach, and see if I can place a pressure gauge somewhere on each bag line and report back.

I can tell you about my coach, your's may be different. At the time mine was built, Newell did not use a regulator to guarantee a minimum pressure in the tag air bags. I found this out the hard way. I dumped the air in the tags to make a sharp turn, and forgot to return the switch to the middle position. Shortly, the coach sat down on the fender flares because the air bags for the drive would not support the coach without the tags.
