Engine Compressor Question - Nebraska Neweller - 05-21-2019

I have a 1987 coach with 8V92. 

Which Bendix compressor does this engine come with? Mine has been replaced in 2008 with a remanufactured unit and the factory tag is nowhere to be found. 

I suspect it is a Trueflow 700 or 750 but have no reference point or information.

I plan to replace my compressor, dryer, and regulator all in one shot.  I'm upgrading from the CR Brakemaster to the Modern AD9 type.

The compressor on my 8V92 is a Haldex EL16100MCR, I have sourced a factory rebuilt unit from a local truck parts center along with a new AD9 style air drier and governor. I'll report back about the install process. Total cost for all 3 parts $760.00

I fully expect this should cure my compressed air production problems for the next 15-20 years.

It may not be wise to undertake the on going maintenance and upkeep of a 30 year old coach, but I've got a long way to go to get to the cost of a new Newell...........

OK,

I changed the compressor, the dryer, the governor, and the diaphragm on one spring break can. All is well now with a consistent 90 to 130 PSI of Air all the time! The leveling even started working again!

Changing the compressor is not fun, not fun at all. not too many bots, but in an awkward place one the dark side of nowhere in a greasy mess............

I do believe that I should have no air supply problems now for a good many years.

You are the man. Last year we were having alternator problems. Our alternator and air compressor live in the same neighborhood, drivers side between engine and bulkhead. The removal was thought to be so tight that one shop wanted us to remove our bed and cut a hole through the floor for access. It took a very nimble and skinny guy to actually climb in the engine compartment and do the job correctly. My hat is off to you....

Has anyone made a hatch in the bulkhead to allow better access to that part of the engine?  It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to do.
