Dash Air-AC Compressor and Pulley C-13 ACERT - jdkskyking - 10-20-2020

Hello Cat 13 owners

Recently my Dash AC compressor pulley bearing failed. I’ve replaced the pulley but the compressor seal may have been damaged as well.

There is not a data plate on the compressor.

If anyone with a Cat 13 Acert engine can send me the data plate info from the dash air AC Compressor I would appreciate it.

I have the 8 groove serpentine belt system.

Thank you!!!
JK

Just curious why you think the seal is bad. Unless you just wiped down the compressor, there should be refrigerant oil all around that seal. That is a york style compressor. The shaft seal is very easy to service. I would trouble shoot the system before condemning the compressor. The york compressor is not known for failure other than the shaft seal.

That style of compressor has been around since the mid 60's. If you need one, just take the lines off and see what style fittings (tube oring, roto lock, etc) it has. Any auto parts store will have one.

There is little to no Freon in the system now. It worked before the clutch/pulley bearing failed. I’m assuming the Freon leaked out the seal.

I was able to clean things up but...

Yes looks like a lot of heat on the seal. If you have a leak detector try to find a leak at the seal. Make sure there is enough pressure in the system.
As easy as that seal is to replace, you might replace it while it is apart. Then pull a vacuum and see if it will hold vacuum.

If you feel a compressor is necessary, they are very reasonably priced. It will come without the pulley assy. The pulley/clutch assy. will probably be more expensive that the compressor.

I wish I had the compressor part number.

these are otr truck compressors. very common. i would take it to a truck parts place that specializes in compressors and i bet they can match it.

i think you are overthinking this. something i do most of the time....ha
