2000-2007 coach - Lee C - 10-03-2021

We currently own a Prevost conversion. Are looking at several 2003-07 Newells. Is there anything I should look for or shy away from in Newells of that vintage? How do these years compare w/ new Newells?  Thanks for your thoughts.

RE: 2000-2007 coach - Fulltiming - 10-03-2021

You are covering quite a range of coaches there.

2003: had the 2000 series body style, HWH hydraulic slides at the beginning of the model year, Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines and Allison World Transmissions. By the middle of the 2003 model year, Newell changed to Valid electric slides.
2004: all had Valid electric slides from here on, began change to ZF suspension #671, 681, 685, 697 and all after that. ZF suspension includes active steering tag axle.
2005: all ZF suspension from here on, first 5 were 2000 series body style, remainder were the 2000i beginning with #722. Began using a number of Cat C-13 engines with the Allison transmission and a couple of C-15 625HP with the ZF 10 speed automatic. Some 47' coaches.
2006: all 2000i "enhanced' body style side and rear, a few Detroits but mostly CAT engines. Mix of Allison's and ZF 10 and 12 speed transmissions (Allison required reduced torque/HP).
2007: Began the P2000i body style designed by Porsche Design from the beginning of the model year until the middle of the 2013 model year when the 2020P body style was introduced. Exclusively CAT engines with primarily ZF transmissions.

With each year, more electronics appear on Newells. Systems become more automated and sophisticated.
