Detroit Engine Labels - BusNit - 01-16-2024

I found a seller on Etsy who goes by ForceCa that makes the engine labels for the Detroit series of engines. He made new labels for my 8v92 and the quality exceeded my expectations right down to supplying the clear over lays for the vinyl labels themselves. I had used a razor blade to peel off my fragile labels and made a copy of them to send to seller. He then made my new labels and sent them on their way. Price was around $140 but very well worth it for my obsolete engine and of course my satiation of OCD. It is my B-day today and this was the most amazing gift to myself! To say I am excited is an understatement. Took days of research to find someone who could replicate these.

Wow, happy birthday! Does the 8 cylinder have a nickname like the 12 cylinder buzzin dozen?

DripTroit?! (not that the silver series is a leaker but I had to throw that in there!) Screamin' Jimmy?

Labels are on and they look like first class!

I buttoned up the engine with a new Jake solenoid. All four click but I need to figure out what or how they are signaled to work with the throttle. I spoke to Leo at AAA and he thinks it has to be connected to the DDEC somehow. I pulled my DDEC scanner and found a setting for engine brake with the N/A next to it. I can't enable it however. Cliff on BCM says that DDECII doesn't support jakes and that there should be a module somewhere. I can't find it. Wiring is good from solenoids to relay at front kick panel. I just need to do an oil change and fire it up. Hopefully I gained another 100hp from the leaking exhaust manifolds  Big Grin    As a tip on removing studs, I welded a nut onto the manifold studs and used my impact gun to remove them. I try not to reuse studs due to unknown stresses from previous repairs/torquing. Aside from that, I prefer a clean installation and resealed threads. New hardware is just my thing.
Marie was happy I didn't send this work to a shop.

Nice work Simon.

I have the Insite/Inline tool for my Cummins, and there are parameters for cruise control, engine brake, etc. that I have to enable if I have them installed.

Contact Tom, I think he might have the DDEC software to connect to the 8v92.

He and I both have the same DDEC reader. I think to alter the ECU would need dealer level computing power neither of us have.
