Coolant?
#1

Re: 1991 #277 8V92 - What type of coolant should be used in our older 8V92? It had green coolant in it when we bought it and I had that changed at a truck repair shop for fresh coolant, still green in color. Is the specified TMC RP-329 green in color? Or did the previous owner install the wrong kind of coolant? I understand the 8V92 has a wet sleeve area and is subject to cavitation corrision, so we need to ensure we have the correct coolant installed.

Thanks!

I used the recommended Detroit Diesel Power Cool (pink in color) for my series 92 for several years until I recently had the coolant changed out and replaced with recycled pink coolant.

The TMC RP329 is compliant with DD specs. Just test it annually with test strips.

Compliant coolant comes in all sorts of colors. So, by itself, color tells you nothing.
