Looking how best to troubleshoot 120 volt Main Pump.
Issues:
>Main Pump makes an occasional 'screeching' noise.
>Main Pump not pumping water
>Both main & auxiliary pump needs to be on to move water
>Red Alarm light flashing on Main Pump.
> Have engaged reset button

Try unplugging for a few minutes. Then plug in and open all faucets starting with outside faucet then inside. When water starts flowing start closing faucets. Sometimes the pump gets an airlock, especially if your tank gets low.

Do you have the black Headhunter pump? Your pump may have some 'scale' build up on the impeller. Fairly common in hard water areas. There is large screw in the center end of the fat portion of the pump that allows you to manually turn the shaft. You might try moving the shaft in both directions to free the shaft. Also, Headhunter often offers pump owner's some really good deals on direct exchange pumps.

Headhunter gave me $500 to trade in towards the purchase price at retail about 2 years ago and that's a pretty good deal. It also included a 2 yr warranty on the new one
