Burner or LP problem?
#1

I've spent the morning troubleshooting the gaggenau two-burner lp cooktop in our 1990 coach and I get no lp coming to the burners...the tank is full... I checked the valves under the cook top and they are open also checked the closed off valve underneath in the storage compartment and I'm not getting any gas past the regulator. Any ideas before I pull out my beard hair? Also, I am not getting any hot water to the shower...I get hot to all other areas so is there some valve I am overlooking that controls hot to the shower? sure would be nice to fix it.

Your help and ideas are appreciated.

hi bill,

i assume you have turned the propane on at the tank valve?

if you have the shower turned totally to hot water does water come out at all? or just cold water. if you have hot water at the other faucets, then might be something with the shower valve.

neither of these things happened to me when i had the coach. so dont have any brilliant ideas.

but, when you get to table rock, i am sure the gang can help you out.

sorry

Bill,
I have a propane leak detector under the sofa in salon area on our coach. It has to be set & operating or I get no propane to appliances. As for hot water, there may be a hot water cut off valve to shower in the plumbing bay.

The propane leak detector was the issue with the propane. The shower appears to have a plugged up valve, he gets NO flow when turned to full hot. We removed the mixing valve (a white plastic circular valve with openings cut to allow water flow in varying amounts from hot and cold lines) and there is NO flow through the hot water tube. I removed the threaded plug from the hot side and hot water is flowing at that location. I have verified that the copper tube coming out of the mixing valve is clear. I am working on a way to clear the brass line from the plug back to the copper tube. Will work on it again tomorrow.

I have a fish tape if you think you can push that through the line.

Thanks Forest. I would like to take a look at it in the morning to see if it is small enough to get it in.

With the help of Michael and finally Rudy we figured out the shower issue. It was the anti-scalding valve was corroded just enough to restrict the movement of the temperature sensitive valve allowing the hot to mix with the cold. Rudy went to his "utility belt" and sprayed the anti -corrosion spray and then played with it long enough to get it to move freely. Once installed we have a working shower. Now no one has an excuse not to sit next to Heather or I at the potluck...

Tom, I sure love this coach! Michael Day, thanks for your time, patience and expertise in helping me fix this problem.
