Headed out again
#1

Second trip since the re-gearing; headed out to Black River Falls WI for an extra long weekend tonight.
I had a brisk headwind the entire way back from Crystal Falls, MI, about 300 miles, over Memorial Day weekend, I didn't see great mpg, we'll see how this one goes.
It's now turning 1,800 rpm @ 70, good power, egt and coolant temps were much better.
Might be room to turn up the fuel a bit. Rolleyes

I'll be sitting lakeside with a beverage for the next few days...

Be interested to see what mileage you end up getting for normal driving conditions.

I have a Cummins Inline 5, Insite and Incal ordered and should be at my house by the time I get home. Hoping to find a calibration around 500hp for my ISM. There are some Android apps for displaying information from OBDC II in either analog or digital gauges, I'm hoping they'll work with Cummins so that I don't have to buy all new gauges and can use an Android tablet instead.

I filled up tonight before heading north tomorrow afternoon for the holiday.
1,197 miles, 134 gal = 8.93 mpg on this tank, that's 70% interstate at 70-72 mph, towing a car or boat except for about 250 miles, and includes 200+ miles with pretty stiff headwinds.

No fancy computer, this is based on the sight glass on my tank, I'm sure there is a few gallons of error, but still seems pretty good.
On flat land with no headwind and maybe a lighter foot, I think I could get 10 mpg.

Good job, Scott!!! I used to get 7-8 with my old '78 Cummins 555. I haven't checked the '93 yet!!!! Kind-a-afraid to.

I know I am not a cool classic, but am pretty happy with the 7.3 mpg that I get with my C-12 Cat.

Bill, that's not bad! Anything over 6 is to be admired.
