Cleaning the engine bay
#1

The engine bay on this coach has a fine coat of dust and oil.  What is the best way to remove this?
Steam cleaner?  Power Washer set on low at car wash?  Scrub it by hand?... what do you think?  I know some of the dealerships will have them detailed but not sure whom to trust for this...

Not sure if the "best way" means easy, quick or efficient.  Since I do not like to introduce water I only use the "wipe, rub, paint & polish method. Clean the bay one item at a time. I use a citrus cleaner to clean oily surfaces. Areas that you can't get a rag on, try spraying the citrus cleaner followed by compressed air.  Get creative in designing cleaning tools to reach the hard to reach areas. The more thorough you are the better the results.

Thanks Steve, I forgot about citrus cleaner and would not have thought about compressed air - I have lots of that!

What do you guys use to restore and polish the stainless steel in the bays?
Also is there any way to clean the aluminum in the water bay? Mine has water streaks but I think if I try to buff it out it will mess up the pattern (like lines) ...
