Johnathon, your math is correct.  The loads as shown on the ammeter are as you have extrapolated.  The loads are fixed and controlled by one thermostat (on the electric side, a different thermostat for the oil side).  I'm not saying they can't be manipulated (see the AH threads) but as built , they are fixed.

On 120 volt connections, the adapters you use to connect the 50A cord to 120V (either 30A or 15A) connect both legs of the 240V power cord to the 120V incoming.  So, in your panel there isn't any voltage difference across a 240V breaker or the buss.  There is 120v only.  The 120V AH element is all that will be energized.  The rest of the loads such as  charger or limited AC will still operate.  Loads such as Gaggenau cooktop, dryer will not operate on the 120 connection.

RE: engine shutdown stat.  It is fixed and not adjustable.  The same is true for the thermal protector in the fan motor.  I'm not saying you couldn't find a different thermal device and install it to chance the setting.  The thermal limits are in place by the manufacturer of the equipment.

Now we're up to 10 cents worth !!
