Might be why it starts so hard? Maybe Newell owes me another compressor. It sure is not my fault and what a mess it has been.
Seems like the tech should have known something was wrong when he had to jump through hoops to size 2 different pieces of copper tubing by squishing them to fit and filling in the gaps with solder. Anyone know the symptoms of bad start windings?

Yep, sorry to sound glib, it would be hard starting. It would pull excessive amps to start or trip breaker when starting.

Up date:
After talking to Newell in describing what I have been doing they have offered to start at the beginning and replace the Compressor at original cost.
We will have this done in the fall on our way back to our winter location.

It's been a learning experience to say the least. Now I know more about Microfarads, Capacitors, and AC Compressors.
