Generator compartment safety
#1

I’m doing PM on the generator. I noticed the wiring harness had slipped over and was touching the exhaust pipe. The harness was held in place with zip ties. They had gotten brittle and broken. A few minutes tidying everything up may have saved me from a generator fire.

Nice save! There are so many things that need looking after. I found many of the black zip ties on mine have become brittle and broken through the interior restoration. I dread working in the engine compartment. Previous owner paid others for repairs and from what I have been finding, most if not all were done by inexperienced hands.

Glad you caught it. You might consider using stainless ty-raps. They're available at Amazon and of course other places.
