Tag airbags needed
#1

Does anyone know where I can get the Tag axle airbags for a 1993 #312? Leo would have to call Newell to find them. I already left a message to Newell but hoping these maybe a generic part number we can get locally. This is the only hold back from the trip which is already a day behind.

Thanks guys!

Try this Firestone (preferred by me) w01-358-9448. You may have to clock the bottom bolts by loosening the bolt and spinning the bottom plate 90 degrees. The properly clocked on is no longer made by Firestone.

Or Goodyear 1r11-202

Thank you Richard. I did some looking under the coach over my now dirty service pit and found a part number of 1DK10D. They have a single bolt on the bottom and two on the top with one of them doubling as the air-port Called Newell and sent them requested pics. Leo says despite the leaks, he feels confident the coach is well enough to take on the drive. I sprayed everything under the coach and could not find any bubbles. I can hear the ride height valve sending air through the exhaust tube whether the 120v compressor is running or the engine is on. I used a short piece of pex pipe to my ear. When the coach is off, I used a spatula soaked with bubble solution at the exhaust vent but no bubbles and no audible air escaping.

That number won’t do you any good. Air bags are made of three parts, the bladder, the top plate, and the bottom plate. Manufacturers mix and match all three to get a specific part for a specific application. Unfortunately all you can see when the air bag is mounted is the bladder number.

Those air bags do not look old at all. I don’t see any age cracks. It is entirely possible the leak is around the bottom bell (search for air bag burp), and you will NEVER detect it because the leak is inside the supporting horn on the bottom.

Go on your trip.

Thank you Richard! Yes, Leo sprayed them and you can see the rubber foaming. He and I both agreed they looked good but the ole' soap test said otherwise! Yes, screw it, we are stocking up the bus and getting ready. Installed the Dyson in the closet. Tools and oil supplies next.
