Its great to hear a positive update. Hopefully she is on her way to a full recovery and you guys will be out enjoying your Newell soon. Let Fran know that she is in the thoughts and prayers of her Guru friends.
A quick update on Fran. All sings are positive so far for a good rehab & recovery. She is still in ICU for a couple more days & tests. Then it looks like off to in-patient rehab for 2-3 weeks. Once again, thank you all so much for your prayers & thoughts.
Glad to hear it Clint. Give Fran our best wishes for a speedy transfer to rehab and for a quick recovery.
Just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers, support & kind thoughts. You have truly lifted Fran's spirits! Here is an update on what's been going on. She spent 22 days in Neuroscience ICU in El Paso. Kind of 1 thing leading to another for most of it. The admitting Dr. was not sure that it was simply a stroke. After having a miriad of tests run on her they found a very rare malignant tumor in the medula of her left adrenal gland. It was decided that it would need to be excised surgically. She needed +/- 4-6 weeks post stroke to be cleared for surgery by the neurologist. Also an effect of the tumor is very erratic blood pressure. This has been pretty much chemically stabilized with alpha & beta blockers. She was sent to rehab hospital in Las Cruces ( we are fortunate to have a top 10% nationally rated facility so close) to work on rehab while awaiting surgical clearance. Rehab has been going VERY well! Once again, thanks for your prayers. We met with surgeon today and surgery is scheduled for Nov. 8. Should be 4-5 days in hospital pre surgery to convert her from Cumadin to Heprin. Then 5-8 days post op hospital recovery. After that back to Las Cruces to finish rehab. So far from this experience, I would advise all one thing for sure, never miss an opportunity to tell someone how much you love them or miss one good morning/good night kiss you don't absolutely have to.
Thank you for the update as we have been wondering how Fran was progressing. Both of you continue to be in our prayers.
So happy to hear the good news. We're praying for her continued recovery.
Fran will be in our prayers
Fran update: Her surgery went well on the 8th. Although the OR was running about 2 hrs behind before they got to her. The surgeon removed her left adrenal gland a spleen as a precaution. Great margins! Final pathology report on the tumor showed benign instead of malignant as was indicated on the earlier needle biopsy. The Drs. said this can happen due to the very small sample size of the needle biopsy. You will have a hard time convincing us that it didn't have a lot to do with everyone's prayers & kind supportive thoughts! Once again we can never thank you enough. Please know that we are here for whatever support we can give should any of you have a time of need. We got her back to rehab in Las Cruces on Wednesday. Hopefully back home & in the Newell in just a few weeks now.
Great news Clint. Give Fran a big hug from Georgia and I. Our prayers for a speedy recovery are with her.
