It was veterans day yesterday so first of all a big thank you for the veterans that have served us. I am honored to be a veteran as well and am proud that our son scott is serving as an officer in the air force.

a while ago, darlene heard that bed and breakfast's were offering free nights to veterans and active duty men and women for veterans day. so darlene asked if i was interested and i said yes. she got us on a waiting list for this wonderful BnB. we never expected to be contacted and told a room was avail if we were interested. well we were in for a treat.

it is a short 120 mile drive (well, for everyone but clarke and forest) but there is a rest stop half way between phoenix and tucson and darlene did ask me if i was going to stop at it.

http://aroseinn.com/ Adobe Rose Inn is the place that we stayed at and that i am writing this post from now. this is such a cool place. (and i have stayed at quite a number of them)

and yes, this is a shameless plug for Marion and Jim Hook, who own and operate the Inn. they are delightful and interesting hosts who treat everyone like family.

thank you to them for allowing us to stay with them for a night.

so, if you are ever in tucson, dont have your coach and need a place to stay, this is it.

I hear breakfast being prepared and I bet it will be fantastic.

I was going to recommend another great b&b in Mesa. But I heard they will be moving.

Thank you and all of our veterans for your service!

Tom

Is that a one or two day hop for Forest and Clark Big Grin
2 day, but 7 rest stops

tom
FYI we drove from Steve Magowns down to Paincourtville with only ONE stop!!!!
That's 248 miles of lonely 2 lane roads. But I knew I wouldn't be driving for a few months once I stopped. Smile
yea but the real reason was there were no rest stops and no real good places to stop at all. am i right?

tom
uhhh, yeah, and my bladder was working good that day....
