After having the exterior door handle break months ago, I locked the entry door deadbolt yesterday and the door locked but the key just kept on turning. Turns nicely in either direction several complete turns but doesn't unlock the door. Naturally, all the windows are locked. I think I can drill out the lock and use a screwdriver to rotate the bolt BUT I can't find a lock that matches. My coach uses a Schlage lock that is virtually flush with the exterior of the coach (there is a trim ring that sticks out about 1/16" and the lock face is flush with that). All of the new Schlage locks stick out well over an inch and would look like powdered poo on the coach.

Short of the easy fix of drilling it out then hoping that I can find some brand of lock that will fit into the existing opening and trim ring, I don't know of any solution other than paying someone to remove the windshield, let me crawl in and remove the lock from the inside with a screwdriver and reinstalling the windshield. I checked with Chuck at Newell and when they 'cleaned out' their low turnover parts several years ago, they got rid of the extras they had. They aren't even in their computer system any longer.

Any suggestions before I destroy something that may be irreplaceable? I night be able to find parts to fix the existing lock IF I could get it out without damaging it but I really am not keen on the windshield removal alternative.
Call a locksmith!!!!
Always the cheapest fix in your situation!
Mike, Call us at Newell if you have not got it open yet.
Michael... I know this is niot your lock but does it look like this?

Jimmy, while the visible portion of the motise lock you referenced is similar, the interior of the lock looks more like a traditional deadbolt as near as I remember. The lock was taken out at Newell in July to repair the door.
Sounds like the screw fell out. Can u use a pick n key & to
Remove cylinder??
I would drill it before removing
Windshield. Less trouble.
What jimmy said. Then call locksmith. Locksmith can open door AND probably just replace the tumbler solving the replacement lock dilemma
Thanks all. I will attack the issue in the morning and report back.

Deadbolt
If the locksmith strikes out and you have a fantastic Fan it can be removed from the outside. I think I'd risk busting a roof vent up before I take a windshield out. Especially if the vent fans are a few years old. Just replace with a new Fan. Of course I'd have to find a skinny kid to send in through the 14" by 14" hole.
I had a Merlin aircraft that one of my gorilla mechanics
Forced the door handle which broke the mechanism.
We ended up drilling a 3/16 hole over the emergency exit window
latch and unlocked the window with a rod. Then repaired the hole after.
