Just bought a 1987 Newell Classic 40' tag Detroit Silver 8V92 TA DDEC Wow its a step up from our 9'6' truck camper. This coach has more options than you can shake a stick at ! I thought it was coach #187 but the owners manual says Blade 287 ?
My wife and I are hoping to Arizona/California in February to see what this weather is all about.
Just got a call from the shop that is doing an insurance safety inspection,it needs a drag link,a couple rear axle oil seals ,muffler has a hole etc. there goes the Christmas money ! Don&Linda
Great adventures ahead!!! Welcome and keep us posted!!
Don & Linda,
Congratulations on the new coach! If it was a Blade owned coach it has every option Newell offered in 1987. Besides the coach you also adopted a great group of friends here at the forum that will do every thing they can to help you, if/when you need it. Hopefully you guys will be able to join us at our next rally.

I can relate to the experience you are having. When you buy used, I always have, there are always unforeseen gremlins. I went over my coach with a fine tooth comb and everything worked. I got to the first campground on the trip home and the inverter went belly up. Go figure. I also had a hole in my muffler. It was so heavy duty I was able to weld a patch in place and it is holding up well. Just a thought.

You might want to call Newell (1-888-3Newell) and let them know you now own the coach. They will also register you to receive thwe quarterly newsletter. That phone number is also good if you need to call service. Remember you now have 24/7 support at Newell and here on the forum.

Good luck with your new coach.
Don & Linda,
I forgot to tell you that this also helps...........................
That's for sure but I will have to use the fancy new plastic canuck folding money !
Also I did some more digging (more storage space than our house) and found the blue prints they say #146 K&A Blade.
Just drove this thing from B.C. to Alberta in minus 20 ,dam near froze could see my breath in coach , have to spend some time figuring out these furnaces etc . Not much heat through 40 feet or so of heater hose Ha
Don,
The #146 sounds correct as the '87 coaches started around #123. #246 is either a late 1990 or early 1991 model.

I have a different heating system than you do, but I'm sure some one with your vintage will chime in.
Welcome! With a name like Macgyver you'll fit right in.
Agree with Steve on the coach number. I know 123, 130, 136, 139, 146 and 155 were all 1987's and that 179 and 180 were 1988's. Steve is also correct that 246 would be either a late 1990 or early 1991. I know 242 was a 1990 and 252 was a 1991.

Congratulations Don and Linda on your Newell. It will be a change from your truck camper and I know you will learn to appreciate all of the features it has. I show that Bill and Sonja were previous owners of #146.
i looked at the 1989 listed on Craigslist in Phoenix and it is coach #194. It was delivered in Oct 1988 or '89.
Don, congrats on the coach.

we spent the summer in lethbridge this year where my wife grew up. and some time in cochrane and madden and cardston.
