Well I retired 22 years ago, and I wonder sometime how I found time to work.
I'm with you Chester. I have been retired for 18 years and work as hard as I ever did. I just don't get paid.
Just had another blind string break. This time it was the kitchen window. I've been anxiously waiting for this to happen so I can get my grubby little hands on the end caps to figure out how to fix this problem.
Simplest thing was to use a pair of needle nose (or sharp nose as Rudy calls them) pliers and lightly jam them into the brass sleeve then rotate it 1/4 turn so it now has a new surface to wear out. This should solve the problem of the worn groove cutting the string.
I thought about finding new sleeves but I'm afraid I'll break the plastic end caps removing the old ones and installing new ones. Cindy's working on the new string now.
We'll pick up some beeswax to lubricate the strings also, good idea Jimmy.
Beeswax works well! You might also try this...
