The original 903 Cummins and 5 speed Allison are being replaced with an 8.3 inline 6 Cummins and a 6 speed Allison.

There has been some progress.

The engine and trans are out of the donor rv and out of my coach.
The rear end will get a gear change and the air bags replaced before the new power goes in.
I should have a couple of pictures to post soon.

Sounds like Mike is a busy man, making good progress. Look forward to some pics!
I attached a few photos of the donor engine and trans and the hole it's going into.

The new power looks tiny compared to the boat anchor that came out.

Scott
Awsome!! Is he going to do any pre-install clean-up and painting? With mine he changed all the belts and hoses, new alternator, oils and filters etc. Sure alot easier to do all of it now. Another thing i wish he would have done to mine was new engine bay insulation.
The oil, filters, belts, etc will get done.
Mike is going to insulate the engine bay, it never seemed overly loud or hot but nearly all of the original insulation is gone.
Thinking about upgrading to the tilt/telescoping steering column and wheel as well.
I'm just trying to keep track of all the costs of the nice to have extras to make sure I don't get carried away...

Scott
On my '73 I replaced the old steering column with one from an Acura. I was able to move a lot of the dash switches to the steering wheel using relays. Headlights, dimmer, window wipers, window washer, cruise control, etc. That was back in the 90's, with today's steering columns you could add radio and phone control also.
A little more progress as we wait for air bags and gears to come in.

Engine bay insulated and intercooler, radiator, and fans mounted.

Looking good Scott, you will have a great coach when its all said and done. The build quality of a Newell and a power train thats reliable and very efficient. Best of both worlds!!
All the new air bags are in, rear end gears are changed, and the front bearing seals are changed over to oil bath.
Engine and trans will go in next, probably next week, there is another coach coming in that needs to be worked on this week.
Can't wait to see it run.

I sold the old 903 to a tractor puller in PA, he uses just the block and builds it up to run on alcohol, it will make 5,000 hp!

Scott
5000 hp would really push the newell up the hills....
