today we drove another 200 miles and just had dinner with jimmy in ok city.

the combined 400 mile trip was 8.5mpg. alot more uphill this time.

i also noticed that at 55mph it is in 5th gear at 1500 rpm it doesnt shift into 6th until 61mph. then it is about 1400 rpm. so i ran 62 today

I have found that I get about the best economy/ diveability at 65 MPH. At 55 mph it is too slow when you get to a hill and then it has to downsift right away. MPG did not really improve at 55 vs 65 mph. On a long trip I will average 8.5 m/imperial gallon ( 7m/US gallon)on the interstate, and 7.5 (6 to US gallon) on the smaller windier roads. I can do better on flat runs but I live in the mountains of the West Coast.
On a 3500 mile trip I will average 8.5 miles to the imperial gallon. (7n/USG)
I have tried all speeds and if not to many hills 62 is the best eco
My coach shifts into 5th gear at 55 mph, so I run about 58-60. Really comes down to the speed I feel the most comfortable at, and 58 is my sweet spot.
clarke. as of two weeks from now, your sweet spot is 62
