Full Version: Anybody know when they got rid of the wheel wells in the bedrooms?

What was the first year that didn't have the protruding wheel wells in Newells? I'm assuming 85, but you all know what assuming gets us.
Our '87 still has them - I think they are for engine bay though.
Not sure if they changed them all at the same time or if it was an option for a while. Were some of the narrow body coaches raised floor or was it changed only when they went to the wide body?
Mine have the humps in the bedroom and behind the cockpit.
My 86 doesn't have the humps front or rear but it's a wide body. Looking through the photo gallery on the old site, I'm thinking that it might have happened in 81, same time they added the brow over the front windshield.
Jon, it appears to have been during the 1980 model year rather than with the eyebrow introduction which occured at or near the beginning of the 1981 model year. The widebodies were not introduced until 1986 and I know that the Hockwald's 1982 has taller bay doors than the pre-1980 models. I do not have enough interior photos to verify the wheel well intrusion but the bay door height was increased on most of the 1980 models. In typical Newell fashion, it may not have been a change made for all 1980's but I don't have any specific documentation other than exterior photos.
My 36 ft. 1981 did not have them.
