Seems to be a lot of benefits, and little downside. Current Newell tires are load range L.

The Michelin X One comes in load range L or even M.

It's all about weight.

The X One carries 11,700 pounds.

The 365 carries 10,500 pounds.

The dual 315s carry 16,540 pounds.

X Ones on the drive and tag and 365 on the steer would carry the GVWR but without the extra margin.
Yep, the X One was designed as a single tire replacement for duals for trucks which typically have a GAWR of 20,000 pounds per axle. Unfortunately, the load carrying capacity that works for trucks and trailers is not nearly enough for the drive axle of a Newell and the tires are too wide to fit on the front or tag of a Newell as they are 455/55R22.5 or 455/50R22.5.

Most early 2000 year model Newells run 315/80R22.5's that in dual configuration have a load carrying capacity of 8270 per tire and have a GAWR of 25,000 lbs on the drive axle. By 2006 models the drive axle was rated at 26,400 lbs and with the introduction of the P2000i in 2009 the drive axle was uprated to 28,600 lbs. where it is today. This is still well within the limits of four 315/80R22.5's but the super singles are under the requirements of even the 23,000 lb GAWR drive axles used on the 1990's year model Newells which ran 11R24.5's.

I am certain that Newell would love to go to super wide singles on the drive axle if a tire manufacturer would make one that would carry about 16,000 lbs per tire but the market would be extremely small for the tire manufacturers so I am not holding my breath.
I've seen them (super singles) as an option on new Prevost coaches.
Prevost coaches are not as heavy as Newells.
