Hello,
Could anyone tell me what they get fuel mileage on average with the Cat C-15 625BHP 12 speed ZF.
i seem to be getting about 5MPG which seems a little harsh! averaging around 65mph.
Thanks
Rob

The previous owner of my coach purchased a 2007 with a Cat, he texted me today saying he only got 4.6 mpg from OK to AZ.
Searched a bunch of truckers forums. appears 6-6.5 for a semi is normal. Of course, you are a big barn door,
and not a aerodynamic tractor unit on a semi, and do not have 18 speeds, and the ability to pick the gear you want.
Throttle position at different speeds and load make a difference.
Good info on rv driving. http://www.rvtechlibrary.com/engine/Cat_...rmance.pdf

I guess it is about right then! at least i know there is nothing wrong, it runs great just thought it was thirsty, but i am going from a American Tradition with a 9 litre to the Newell with a 15 litre,  Rolleyes

My 2007 has the Allison so you have the advantage with 12 gears versus my 6 but over the last 11,222.7 miles I have averaged 5.5 mpg according to my silverleaf.  The best mileage I ever achieved was when I was going to Key West, FL, and averaged 7 mpg but I was just cruising along at about 45 mph for about 100 miles and the only hills were bridges.  I normally travel no faster than 65 mph.
Test drove 1242 last week and looked at the average mpg and it showed 4.4 mpgs. According to the build sheet this Newell has the CAT 625 engine and Allison transmission.
