I’m finally getting around to doing this mod. Where can I get the DOT fittings and is there a part number? Is this something a local hydraulic shop would have? I may have to wait until I get to Austin next week to do this but have some time now...
I think I bought the wrong part: Dorman 904-214 does not look anything like the other pictures here :-At least they were only $50...
that is the right one

How does it get wired and plumbed in? It looks different than the pictures... maybe I’m missing something...
You can order any DOT fitting from McMaster Carr. You will have to figure out the sizes you need.
I found one valve in the middle (large) bay but not sure which side to plumb to... attaching a picture of the valve I found - I am guessing that I would need to plumb into the open hole/female fitting in the solenoid?

Thanks Richard!  Do I really need a DOT valve just to suck 20lbs of pressure out?  Once the solenoid closes it would shut off the air supply right?  I may have to get a temporary fitting from a hardware store for now...
I found the 1/4” pipe x 1/4” NBT fittings at (of all places) the local CarQuest auto parts store here in Boulder City (Fastenal and Graingers didn’t stock it). So after some gymnastics in the bay and under the bed I now have two working vacuum pumps! I sealed the small ‘pipe’ tubing to the new vacuum pump with some teflon tape (small fingers would have helped!) and will come back with super glue later once I’m sure everything is working fine - the pump under the bed had to be rapped to get it to start so I’ll watch it (or lift the bed every time I want to move the slide!).
Now on to fix the toilet and generator contactor switches (new post coming).
Thanks for everyone’s help! Adrian
The reason that we use DOT fittings throughout the coach is that any air leak has the potential to impact the braking system. In my opinion, DOT fittings are just as prone as hardware store fittings to leak, but the materials and construction are generally much more robust than the hardware store fitting, making the DOT fitting less prone to a catastrophic failure such as fracturing where the threads meet the body.

Seems a little far fetched, right? Yeah, till you have had one of the garden variety jobs shear off as you tighten it. It made a believer out of me.
the 99 i have had a leaky shutoff valve for the slide seal and a broken pressure gauge.  so i replaced the regulator, shutoff valve and pressure gauge and added in the vacuum pump while i was at it.

one thing to note, is to preset the regulator pressure before installing and using coach air.  otherwise it maybe set way to high and blow your slide seal.  i use a cap on one end and a air chuck port on the other temporarily and set it with my shop air.  i set it at 21 psi.

i used vacuum line and a dot fitting in the solenoid valve like before.  i use a female blade connector that i pinch down and then tape in to go over the pins on the vacuum pump.

worked like a charm

i took pictures of the part numbers as well.

i like to use packard connectors and i have a bunch of them. that way i could easily disconnect the vacuum pump if needed.
