Last week while driving from NC to Florida, I had the engine quite running while I was driving at highway speeds. The first time it began to lose power while I was in 4th gear, I looked at the dash and saw that the speedometer, oil pressure, engine temp as well as backup camera were not working. I shifted the tranny into 6th gear and in only a few seconds everything came back on and it ran great, no problems. The next day, while in 6th gear, it did the same thing only this time it rolled to a complete stop on the side of I-75. I turned the ignition off, waited a few seconds, turned it back to start and she fired right up everything working and it made it to central Fl with no issues. I have read that it could be as simple as a bad battery or ground but wondered if any of you have experienced anything like this. I am planning on taking it the Ocala Detroit/Allison shop soon for service and will see if they can figure out what it might be.

I would start by checking the wiring to the ignition switch.
Did you see a "check engine" or "stop engine" light?
Dario, have you considered adding an engine monitoring system like VMSpec or BlueFire?
I did not see any check engine lights and I am looking into Bluefire. I also am starting with the the ignition switch

Check the pins at the ECU. Somewhere I saw a video where the guy had the same issue and they thought it was a fuel pump. Turned out to be a bad connection at the ecu where a pin had corroded. The video was from “Stapleton42” on YouTube.

Here is my experience with a similar situation...http://newellgurus.com/showthread.php?tid=5756.  Having said this and speaking with the techs at the Ocala shop.  There is a sensor behind the compressor and mounted on the accessory case that could be the problem.  There is like three different part numbers so they would need the engine serial number to find the right part.  That was next but since changing the DDEC breakers have had no issues.
Not trying to overload you with things to look at. Bill Johnson @"bikestuff" had this very problem.

It turned out to be two interrelated things. The first was the ignition power relay located in the passenger kick well. His was at the upper right hand corner. The relay had been compromised but even more tricky to find was that the terminals in the relay mounting block had been overheated due to excessive current and were causing all the power to the ignition circuits, including gauges and DDEC, to become interrupted.

The real root cause of that issue was that the solenoid that controlled the speed of the engine cooling fan had short circuited, pulling a very heavy amperage load. That power source for that load starts with the ignition solenoid.

It took a while to sort all that out.

So I would check the ignition circuit solenoid located in the passenger footwell, replace it, and look very carefully at the terminations on the back of the block the solenoid plugs into.

The tell-tale giveaway is if the engine stops and it seems as if you turned off the key. The dash lights go dark.

To add to what Richard said…. There are automatic breakers that are in the floor panel under passenger that will trip and then reset themselves. There is another one that was added to 653 by Newell in the rear wiring cabinet (right side of engine). These will trip under high current events and will shut everything down. However, they will reset themselves making troubleshooting pretty difficult.

It appears that the problem was the ignition switch having a poor contact but have only driven the coach about 50 miles so not 100% sure. I have been looking for the DDEC drop and ignition relays but can not find the Hella's that are installed. Do you know what other relays might work. The two that I have are
4RD 960388-08  DDEC Drop and 4RA 93121001 DDEC Ignition
I can not find these, might call Newell today as I would like to change them out.
