I sent in an oil sample to a local lab in Phoenix. (Lab One, Inc)
They sent me the results yesterday with Iron (FE) and Tin (SE) being slightly elevated. 49 for Iron and 11 for Tin. What is a normal range for wear? This sample was taken after a 5800 mile drive. I bought the coach with 125,000 miles and it sat for three years with little use since previous owner had changed the oil with the proper straight weight Chevron 40 as noted in the receipts I found.
I like Blackstone Labs since they include the unit averages (once you've used them a few times) and also universal averages on each analysis.
Typically they would respond to continue monitoring oil with each change when something is out of average.
Iron increases with the length of time since the last oil change. Blackstone lists 49 as the Universal Average for Iron. My last test was 29.

Tin at 11 is high compared to the Universal Average of 5. Mine was 4.

This is a 1992 with an 8V92 and over 170,000 miles.
Here are my two Blackstone samples since owning the coach.
